Spend controls
Spend controls help you automate your company’s expense policies, ensuring spending stays within set limits while streamlining admin work.
Spend controls are set by admins at the card level, meaning you can customize spending rules for each card. Here’s what you can control:
Transaction limits – Set a maximum amount per transaction
Daily limits – Control the total spend per day
Monthly limits – Cap spending over a month
ATM withdrawals – Disable cash withdrawals (physical cards only)
How to apply spend controls
Spend controls are applied by admins when issuing a new card.
On your dashboard, go to Cards > Cards
Click on Issue card in the top right corner
Navigate to the Spend controls tab. Note: Spend controls differ depending on whether you’re issuing a virtual or physical card.
Spend limits can be edited at any time. Read more about setting limits on your Mamo cards.
Out-of-policy spend requests
Sometimes, a cardholder needs to spend more than their assigned limits. In these cases, admins can submit an Out-of-policy spend request on their behalf
This temporarily extends the spend limit by a specific amount, so that the cardholder can make the necessary purchase. Once the extended amount is used, the card automatically reverts to its standard spend limits.
How to add a new Out-of-policy spend
On your dashboard, go to Cards > Policies > Out-of-policy requests
Select Approve spend in the top right corner
Select the card to which the Out-of-policy spend will apply, the maximum amount allowed to be spent, and the reason for the spend.
An email will be sent to the card user with the details, and the Out-of-policy request status will appear as 'Approved' in your dashboard and the user's dashboard.
Once the spending limit is reached, the Out-of-policy request will be marked as 'Spent' in your dashboard and the user's dashboard.
